Wendouree is a large suburb on the north western rural-urban fringe of the city of Ballarat. It is the most populated suburb in Ballarat with a total population of 10,752 at the 2006 census. Landmarks of Wendouree include the Minerdome (the home of he Ballarat Miners and Ballarat Rush), the Ballarat Showgrounds (where the annual Ballarat Show is held), Eureka Stadium (which is the home ground of the North Ballarat VFL and has hosted pre-season AFL matches), Stockland Wendouree shopping centre, the Wendouree Homemaker Centre, Howitt Street shopping centre and the Wendouree Centre for the Performing Arts. Wendouree is home two high schools: Ballarat Grammar School & Ballarat Secondary College and four primary schools: Wendouree Primary, Forest Street Primary, Our Lady Help of Christians Parish Primary & Yuille Park Community College. Wendouree has a number of sporting facilities for the fitness guru's such as; Minderdome Basketball Stadium, Wendouree Oval, Eureka Stadium, Wendouree Central Bowling Club, Webbcona Bowls Club, Hollioake Park Sports Complex and Wendouree West recreation reserve just to name a few. Public transport is also made easy with the Wendouree Railway Station situated on Gillies Street and many local bus routes to and from the city.
