Talbot is a rural town 15km south of Maryborough, approx an hour south-west of Bendigo and 130km north-west of Melbourne. Talbot is set in an agricultural hinterland, with patches of State forest and numerous old gold workings around it. Seven roads radiate from the town, but none is more than a main local road.
