Scotsburn is a village with some rural/residential development on the Midland Highway 18km south-east of Ballarat, 7km from Buninyong and approx 71km to Geelong city. It was named after the Scott family who took up the Mount Boninyong/Buninyong pastoral run in 1840. Buninyong township is the closest with schools, cafes, and supermarket, while also providing a golf course and further facilities and services for everyday living. Scotsburn is a scenic hamlet with Mount Buninyong creating a beautiful backdrop.
