Gordon is a rural township 25 km east of Ballarat and 93 km north-west of Melbourne. Once on the Western Highway, it is now a few kilometres south of the Western Freeway. Gordon is situated on the undulating foothills of the Paddock Creek valley, which contains a reservoir and a public park which have several walking and jogging paths to explore. The commercial area is situated along the Main Street and consists of a hotel, general store, post office and other heritage building sites. Public transport is available in Gordon, with a bus link connecting Gordon to both Ballarat and Ballan. Gordon also has a football team in the Central Highlands Football League. Gordon is a popular destination due to its proximity to Ballarat and Bacchus Marsh (approx. 37kms), along with convenient commuting distance to Melbourne.
