Kingston is a small town located about 15km from Creswick and 20km from Daylesford. The nearest primary schools are located in Creswick or Daylesford, as the Kingston Primary School closed in 2004. Kingston still retains some of its original buildings such as the old Shire Office building, the former Church of England, Uniting Church, and the Commercial Hotel. The area's rich red volcanic soil and good rainfall support agricultural industries including potatoes, sheep, and wheat. A magnificent Avenue of Honour of elm trees is dedicated to those who served in World War I. Kingston is approx. 130 North West of Melbourne via the Western Freeway.
