Bald Hills is 107 kilometres west of Melbourne and 14 kilometres north of Ballarat. The area is dominated by large volcanic hills, including Mount Blowhard, Mount Pisgah, Mount Hollowback and Mount Cavern. Bald Hills received the name by the two rounded mound-like hills that are thickly dotted over the surface. They are almost bare of trees and were named the bushmen. Bald Hills did once have a railway station and hotels/pubs but all have since closed.
